CMOS Sensor

Bringing the expressive power of SLR photography to digital cameras
CMOS Sensor
The CMOS sensor is the electronic eye in Canon digital SLR cameras. Through the development of proprietary technology to eliminate noise, a problem common to conventional CMOS sensors, Canon realized an imaging sensor that achieves high-resolution performance and low power consumption. Canon manufactures CMOS sensors in-house as key components and has successfully developed a 35mm full-frame sensor.

All-in-One Cartridges

Greatly simplified copier maintenance
All-in-One Cartridges
Canon developed the world's first all-in-one cartridge, combining toner along with a photosensitive drum, charger, cleaner, developing unit, and other important components of the electrophotography process that require frequent maintenance. Easy cartridge replacement effectively eliminates the need for regular inspections and toner refilling.

LIDE(LED Indirect Exposure)

A creative approach to smaller and lighter scanners
LIDE(LED Indirect Exposure)
Canon's proprietary LIDE technology makes possible compact, lightweight image scanners. LIDE scanners employ small, lightweight, low-power-consumption light emitting diodes (LED) as a light source, and incorporate a color contact image sensor (CIS) and optical lens. A CIS spanning the width of the platen facilitates distortion-free scanning, even around the edges of scanned images.

FINE(Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering)

A commitment to print quality
FINE(Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering)
FINE is a core technology that supports the high image quality and speed of Canon inkjet printers. The application of semiconductor production technology enables print heads to be manufactured as single units, complete with heaters. Reducing nozzle size with sub-micrometer precision makes possible the accurate delivery of ink drops as small as one picoliter* in size.
*1 picoliter = 1 trillionth of a liter

ChromaLife100

Preserving the beauty of photographs
ChromaLife100
Ultraviolet and other forms of light and atmospheric gases have long hindered the preservation of photo prints. Through a combination of genuine dye-based inks and photo paper, Canon overcame problems associated with coloration and density to realize beautiful photo prints that resist fading for up to 100 years* when stored in a photo album.
* Results based on accelerated testing. Canon does not guarantee the longevity of prints.
