The Frontline of Camera Design PowerShot G1 X A refined instrument, imbued with soul

Presence as a Photography Tool

For the body, the design approach was to commit to a compact design while emphasizing the larger size of the lens.
Using the shape of the entire camera to express a sense of confidence has resulted in a tool that can capture excellent images.
Therefore, the most effective strategy was to give the lens a stronger presence.
The emphasis on the lattice-shaped non-slip grip on the bayonet ring, for example, is reminiscent of that of a manual camera, which requires the user to keep one hand on the focus adjustment.
The high degree of refinement is evidenced in the design results, from the pursuit of ease-of-use to the decision to give the PowerShot G1 X the appearance of a "pro tool."

Committed to Better Photography

The design of the operating system was identified as an important means of further refining this camera as a tool. The layout of the basic operation buttons was intended to result in a simpler and more user-friendly operating system while maintaining the traditions of the G Series.
In addition to increasing the size of the operation controls, the design team also put great effort into determining the ideal finger positions and movements.
For example, the movie button is positioned where it can be pressed naturally after shooting still images. In addition, the raised area around the button helps to prevent erroneous operation while also stabilizing the position of the thumb.
In addition, the non-slip grip for the thumb and the front grip incorporate rubber sheet that was considered for its thickness and firmness and for the depth of the knurled pattern.
For the flash, great attention was focused on ensuring good photos through the adoption of a manual pop-up flash. The top priority was to complement the intentions of the photographer.
