It all began with comments from frontline users
As a follow-up to the XH G1S/A1S, a true professional video camera released in 2008, Canon has now introduced the XF305/XF300 Full HD Video Camera. As Canon’s first professional video camera to incorporate a file-based recording system, this long-awaited new model opens new doors in the professional video camera segment.
This is the story of four men who boldly took on the greatest weight of responsibility in facing the challenge of creating a new design.

Full HD recording with 4:2:2 sampling that gives life to the subject — it’s the same hi-definition system adopted by broadcasters.

The four professionals who faced the challenge of developing a professional tool
In the realm of consumer products, the most important design element demanded by the customer is, without a doubt, user-friendly design. For professional-level tools, however, the demand for user-friendly design is one or two orders of magnitude greater.
Canon designers Yoshihiro Miyazawa, Hiroyuki Kimura and Masaaki Igarashi, working under design team leader Manabu Inoue, embarked on this challenge with a commitment to listening carefully to the voices of frontline users.

Since joining the company in 1991, I have been involved in the design of printers, notebook PCs, and displays. More recently, I have been responsible for designing camcorders, and I am currently in charge of designing professional camcorders.
My design goal is to create honest designs. Every day, I work hard on developing functions, focusing on users, and improving designs. And, of course, I always strive to be honest with myself in my work.

My career began with the design of calculators. Later, I took on the design of fax machines, printers, compact digital still cameras, lenses, digital SLR cameras, and camcorders. Now, I am responsible for designing copiers and other office equipment.
Whenever I develop an inspirational design, no matter what the product category, I’m so satisfied that I couldn’t wish for a better job.

I really enjoy working on peripherals and accessories, and I follow my instincts when I seek to introduce some ingenuity. My design goal is to develop products that bring joy to their owners, resulting in a lasting attachment and years of productive use. My hobby is making models with a focus on structures.
