When taking photographs of human faces with automatic exposure under backlighting, the main subject used to be underexposed. Such shooting conditions as backlighting and the brightness of objects were pre-programmed into the Autoboy 3. The camera detects when users take a picture of a backlit or dark object, and it automatically activates a flash in order to assure the optimal exposure.
