The conventional AF system measured the distance to an object at the center focus point only. If the main subject of the picture was off-center, the resulting image left the subject out of focus.
The New Autoboy introduced a 3-point AiAF system, which uses automatically selected focus points according to the zoom position, accurately identifying the main subject. This feature focuses on the main subject instead of the background, even when the subject is not in the center of the frame, permitting the user to concentrate on shooting.
