Development objectives
Both of the printers derive higher resolutions from our high-density print head technology known as FINE (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering), a key technology for the PIXUS line. In all aspects - color reproduction, operability, design - we strove to make the printers closer in harmony and spirit with our EOS Digital cameras, marking the evolution in photo printers that professionals and advanced amateurs have been looking for.
Feature 1: PIXUS Pro9500 Mark II
Ten-color pigment ink system for outstanding reproduction
The Pro9500 Mark II's deeply profound color reproduction is the result of a 10-color ink set (Photo 3). The 10 colors are cyan, magenta, yellow, green, red, photo cyan, photo magenta, photo black, matte black, and gray.
Furthermore, our high-density FINE print head technology can precisely and consistently control the positioning of microscopic ink droplets as small as 3 picoliters for a maximum printing resolution of 4800 x 2400dpi. |

Gray ink advantage
Including a gray ink in the ink set substantially reduces metamerism, a phenomenon where colors appear differently under different light sources. The other advantage the gray ink's faint hue provides is much less grain in areas of tonal gradation.
LUCIA pigment inks provide extended print longevity
The printer's LUCIA pigment inks have a light fastness of about 100 years and a gas fastness of about 50 years (when printed on Canon Photo Paper Plus Semi-gloss). These inks allow valuable artwork prints to be enjoyed and appreciated for many years.

Exceptional monochrome expressiveness
Because the Pro9500 Mark II has both gray and matte black ink in addition to photo black ink, it can create monochrome prints with stable gray balances and rich gradation with even less color shift. Even when printing on fine art papers, the Pro9500 Mark II can produce well-contrasted images (Figure 1). |

Faster printing
The Pro9500 Mark II prints faster than the PIXUS Pro9500 due to greater paper transport stability and improved print control.
Feature 2: PIXUS Pro9000 Mark II
Eight-color dye ink system for vibrant image reproduction
The Pro9000 Mark II features an eight-color ink set that can reproduce a broad color space rivaling positive film. The eight colors are cyan, magenta, yellow, black, photo cyan, photo magenta, red, and green. These inks also allow the printer to produce vibrant prints with superb coloration and glossiness (Photo 4).
Furthermore, our High-density FINE print head technology forms microscopic two-picoliter ink droplets for virtually grain-free gradations at a maximum resolution of 4800 x 2400dpi. |

ChromaLife 100 inks preserve photo print beauty for many years
ChromaLife 100 inks greatly extend the longevity of your photo's beauty when genuine Canon photo paper is used with the Pro9000 Mark II. Photos can be preserved for as long as 100 years if stored in archival conditions.
*Please see our catalog or Web site for details on storage conditions and other terms.
Fast photo prints
Our high-density FINE print head has 768 nozzles for each color, for a total of 6,144 nozzles. Because of the number of nozzles, the Pro9000 Mark II can make a bordered A3+ color print in 83 seconds* and a bordered A4 color print in just 47 seconds.* The Mark II also prints monochrome prints faster than its predecessor.
*When printing on Canon Photo Paper Pro II. Please see our catalog or Web site for details on printing conditions and other terms.
Other features
Handles a wide variety of papers
In addition to the standard rear-feeding paper tray, the printers have a front-loading paper feeder which can transport a wide range of print media of different thicknesses and weights. The front feeder can be used to create richly textured artworks using such fine art papers as Canon's Museum Etching or Premium Matte.
The front feeder can also print 14 x 17 inch prints (Photo 5). |

Camera-direct printing
Both printers support PictBridge, the industry's standard for printing directly from cameras. PictBridge support enables the user to make advanced manual adjustments to prints including level adjustments and adjustments to brightness, contrast, color balance, and color tone.
DVD/CD label printing
The printers are packaged with CD-LabelPrint and Easy-PhotoPrint EX, which can be used to print high-quality text and pictures directly on printable DVDs or CDs. A special mechanism precisely adjusts the print position automatically so that label prints are centered perfectly each time.
Feature 4: Easy-Photo Print Pro
Enables users to easily reproduce the original photographic intent on paper
Easy-PhotoPrint Pro is plug-in software that gives the photographer a straightforward means to get the maximum reproduction performance from the PIXUS Pro9500 Mark II/Pro9000 Mark II printers in combination with EOS Digital cameras (Photo 6). |

(1)Reproductions that correctly match the EOS Digital's original color
A challenge for all photographers is to accurately reproduce images taken on EOS Digital cameras in PIXUS prints. To simplify this process, Easy-PhotoPrint Pro reads the color space information in Digital Photo Professional (Ver. 2.1 or newer), Adobe® Photoshop® CS/CS2/CS3/CS4, or Adobe® Photoshop® Elements 6 and reflects this information in the final print. Not only is it possible to correctly reproduce the color tints of picture styles set in Digital Photo Professional, photographers can also print in the wide Adobe® RGB color space.
(2)Supplies all the features professionals need
Easy-PhotoPrint Pro is laid out so that professional photographers can easily access all settings, including several new functions, from a single window.
(3)Monochrome prints with less color shift
One easy operation in Easy-PhotoPrint Pro brings out the maximum expressiveness in monochrome prints. By simply selecting Grayscale Photo mode, the software will process the image to minimize the use of color inks, resulting in prints with a stable gray balance and less color shift.
Easy-PhotoPrint Pro offers Warm Tone and Cool Tone adjustments, which add a subtle color tone change to grayscale prints. All monochrome options can be applied to full advantage to images taken in the Monochrome picture style on EOS Digital cameras as well.
(4)Pattern Print function
The Pattern Print function automatically creates multiple thumbnail variations of the original image with different color balance levels, brightness levels, or contrast levels and then prints the variations on a single sheet for quick comparisons. Using Pattern Print can speed up the adjustment process since the final adjustment pattern can be selected after just one test print (Figure 2). |

(5)Print photos on a black background
Easy-PhotoPrint Pro makes it possible to print margins in black to make a photo stand out. Easy-PhotoPrint Pro includes other margin effects to present photos as pieces of art (Photo 7). |
|
|

(6)35-up contact prints
This function downscales the original images without any loss of resolution to 35mm format size and lays out the images like a contact sheet. Because of the high image quality, 35-up contact prints can be used to check the subject's expression and the photo's focus and exposure (Photo 8). |
|
|

(7)Ambient light correction
This color mode is used to lessen print appearance discrepancies caused by differences between the lighting conditions where the original is produced and the lighting conditions where the print is eventually displayed. By selecting the display lighting conditions in Easy-PhotoPrint Pro, the print's color tint will be tailored to look correct under the selected display lighting conditions (Figure 3).
* There are eight lighting conditions to choose from. This feature is compatible with Windows Vista® only.

Bundled with Adobe® Photoshop® Elements 6
Adobe® Photoshop® Elements 6 offers a wide variety of image editing options with a simple interface. Seamless printing to the Pro9500 Mark II/Pro9000 Mark II is possible in the editing window by using Elements with the Easy-PhotoPrint Pro plug-in. (Supplied on a DVD-ROM.) |
