The EU RoHS is the most stringent in the world, but exceptions are allowed for the use of lead in steel and copper in order to maintain the precision of the process. Canon, however, undertook ongoing research on materials and processing methods. As a result, we managed to eliminate lead from all parts, except for electrical and electronic parts. Thanks to our active efforts to reduce hazardous substances to levels more stringent than legal requirements, Canon is minimizing the impact on human health and the environment.
