I would like to offer Canon's environmental management as an example of our corporate social responsibility.

At Canon we endeavor to promote the maximization of resource efficiency and have incorporated this thinking into our corporate vision for 2010 through an overriding indicator called Factor 2. This entails doubling the environmental efficiency indicated by the ratio of lifecycle CO2 emissions to consolidated net sales by 2010 in comparison with the base year 2000. We are making steady progress towards achieving this goal.

Furthermore, we are currently moving ahead with discussions on a new environmental vision for the future.
