As a public member of society, corporations are being called upon to contribute to the realization of an even better society through sound and fair business practices.
Canon has been active in responding to this call by, for example, providing support to the Signal of Hope Project, which aims to assist reconstruction and revitalization efforts in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake. And on January 1, we laid out our basic policy regarding CSR for the Canon Group. This basic policy states the Company's commitment to promoting CSR activities in global and local communities by leveraging our high level of technology, global business expansion, and diverse workforce of specialists.
Going forward, we will be more active in carrying out CSR activities under this basic policy.
