Canon to Exhibit Winning Entries from
'China Through My Eyes' Photo Contest
in Dalian and Tokyo
—Photo Competition Commemorates 35th Anniversary of
Normalization of Relations between Japan and China—
TOKYO, November 2, 2007—Canon today announced it would exhibit winning entries from the "China Through My Eyes" Photo Contest in both China and Japan to promote cultural exchange and further deepen the friendship between the two countries. The exhibit will be held in China from November 2 to 11 at the Parkland Shopping Mall in Dalian, and in Japan from November 22 to 25 at the Spiral Garden gallery in Aoyama, Tokyo.
The "China Through My Eyes" Photo Contest commemorates the 35th anniversary of the normalization of relations between Japan and China and is an effort made by Canon to facilitate cultural exchange between the two countries through photography. Under the theme of "China Through My Eyes, "the contest was opened to the public from July to September 2007 and divided into a Junior Category (age 22 and under) and a General Category (age 23 and up), calling for photos of beautiful scenery and interaction with local people taken on trips to China, as well as China-related themes found in Japan. The contest drew a total of 9,565 entries from 1,903 participants.
The exhibit will feature entries by winners of the one Gold Award, three Silver Awards, and ten Bronze Awards for each category, along with 53 Honorable Mention entries. Additionally, the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Award winners will be invited to take part in an awards ceremony and photography tour in Dalian. Three contest judges, the professional photographers Koichi Saito, Yoshihiro Tatsuki, and Hisashi Mochizuki, will also participate in the tour, giving the winners photography advice as they explore the city of Dalian.
