Canon has issued a product advisory for a specific group of compact copying machines, manufactured and marketed between 1987 and 1998, which require an inspection and possible parts replacement. Due to a faulty connection involving the power cord for the fixing unit heater, which may have occurred at the time of manufacture or during servicing, a limited number of these units may present a risk of smoke emission or fire.
