Canon issues product advisory regarding improper indication on packaging for BP-308 replacement battery for video camcorder
TOKYO, June 29, 2007—Canon has issued a product advisory to notify of an improper "country of origin" indication appearing on packaging for the Battery Pack BP-308, a replacement battery sold for use in a given Canon digital video camcorder model.

- Model name in North & South America: Canon Optura 600 digital video camcorder
- Model name in Europe and other regions (except Japan): MVX4i digital video camcorder
- Model name in Japan: IXY DV M5 digital video camcorder
3. Overview
The battery pack in question was manufactured in China based on Canon specifications. While the "country of origin" indication on the actual battery is correct, the packaging for the separately sold replacement-model battery incorrectly indicates Japan as the country of origin.
To ensure that similar mistakes do not occur in the future, Canon will make every effort to achieve thorough control processes.
The battery in question was manufactured to meet the high quality standards required for all Canon genuine products and can be used with confidence.
4. Response measures
