When there is a disaster, Canon conducts disaster relief fund-raising to help victims in stricken areas. The disasters for which Canon collected donations include the earthquake in Turkey in 1999, an earthquake in Taiwan, earthquake in India, September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001, and an earthquake in Iran in 2003. Canon provides matching gifts in addition to donations from employees of Canon group in time of need. Canon and its employees make this contribution together.

For the victims of September 11 attacks, Canon contributed 3 million dollars through the Japanese Red Cross Society.
For the international support activities, the Emperor of Japan awarded Canon Inc. the Diploma with Dark Blue Ribbon in 2002 through the Prime Minister.
