On November 6, 2009, executives from the Red Cross Society of China paid a courtesy visit to Canon Inc.'s Shimomaruko headquarters in Tokyo.
The Red Cross Society of China, founded in 1904 as a Red Cross organization, provides such humanitarian aid as emergency response and relief, rescue operations, blood donations, and healthcare projects. Members of the Red Cross Society of China regularly travel to Japan to promote a collaborative relationship with the Japanese Red Cross Society.
While in Japan earlier this month, members of the organization paid a visit to Canon Inc. to express appreciation for the aid that the company provided following the earthquake that struck central China's Sichuan Province in May last year, and to conduct a hearing regarding CSR activities by a Japanese company.
The six-member delegation, led by Vice President Wang Hai Jing, was welcomed by Group Executive Akiyoshi Moroe and Vice Group Executive Bunji Yano of Canon Inc.'s External Relations Headquarters.
The hearing portion of the visit was handled by General Manager of the Social & Cultural Program Division Sumiko Sawada, who delivered a presentation on Canon's social and cultural support activities.
