The Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo held its spring workshop entitled "Let's Make a Collage of Cityscapes," on two days, March 21 and 22.

This workshop welcomed as its lecturer Kazuhito Sahara, an artist who produces watercolors that casually incorporate cityscapes, and offered participants the opportunity to experience a part of Sahara's process of producing his works. During the two days of workshops, eighteen parent and child pairs (36 people; children from the third grade in elementary school or above) took part.

The parent and child pairs participating carefully explored the area surrounding the art museum, using a digital camera to freely photograph anything that caught their interest and curious scenery. They then printed the photos of their choosing on OHP sheets and cut and pasted together a collage of cityscapes to create a new view of the city.

Canon supported this workshop by loaning out compact digital cameras.

Working as a pair to create a single work together enlivened the conversation between the children and their parents. In addition, having their usually busy mother or father spend an entire day creating a work together with them made the time invaluable.
