No.6 "Chasing Stars"

"I created this work as an entry for a picture book contest. Around then, the media would often feature paintings and architecture by Friedensreich Hundertwasser. The apartment house of stacked building blocks in my painting might have come from me being subconsciously influenced by him. My sketchbook from that time included such drawings as a night-sky filled with stars and teardrops, which I called Tears of the Stars, and a child trying to prop up a ladder to the moon. More and more memories came to me as I looked through the sketches. As a result, I produced this painting. It's a small work that is very dear to me."
