About the Artist

HATA Mikiko, born in 1954, currently lives in Osaka Prefecture.
She initially aspired to be a professional electronic organ player, but gave up this dream when she lost her right arm as a result of a traffic accident.
Thereafter, she fell in love with painting, which she began as a part of her physical therapy following that injury. Her talent blossomed, and she is now active as a popular Artbility artist.
The distinctive characteristics of HATA's paintings are the beauty of her use of colors and her bold motifs. She explains that she would like to create works that make the viewers feel happiness and joy.
HATA was awarded the 15th Artbility Grand Prize.
