Canon Dalian Business Machines, Inc. supports “The Project of Hope” a program launched in 1995 to provide assistance to schools lacking operating funds. Annual donations include school supplies and office equipment.

Executives from Canon Dalian Business Machines, including President Hitoshi Nakazato, paid visits on November 10 and 11 to Canon Hope elementary schools in northeastern China. The Canon entourage donated such products as personal copying machines and compact cameras, along with stationery and physical-education supplies.

When Canon visited the three Canon Hope elementary schools, the Canon executives enjoyed lively welcoming ceremonies at each school, featuring song-and-dance performances by the students.

The children enjoy curricula that, depending on the school, include English-language studies, computer studies, and music lessons using an electronic organ donated last year. Several graduates of the Canon Hope elementary schools have gone on to pursue jobs at Canon Dalian Business Machines.

Canon Dalian Business Machines intends to continue supporting children in the region, while also working to contribute to favorable ties between Japan and China.
