Collecting spoiled or unused postcards was an activity launched in 1996. Since 2000, collected postcards have been donated to the “Darunee Scholarship Donation” of “Minsai Center.”
In this international educational program, the value of 250 spoiled postcards (10,000 yen) can send a child in Thailand or Laos to school for a year. As awareness of this donation is increasing among the employees every year, in 2006 Canon supported 18 junior high school students in Thailand, and 1 primary school students in Laos (support for children for three consecutive years) by donating 10,258 spoiled postcards.
