Report on Scholarship Support Provided in FY2007 through Incorrectly Addressed Postcards

In fiscal year 2007, 13,235 such postcards were collected (approximate value: ¥600,000), and three years’ collective scholarship support was provided for fourteen middle-school students in Thailand and five elementary-school students in Laos.

Since 1996, Canon has collected incorrectly addressed and unused postcards from Canon Group employees and, through the Darunee Scholarship Program of NGO Minsai Center Japan, provided scholarship support to children in Thailand and Laos for whom it is difficult to attend school. Two hundred fifty postcards constitute the equivalent of one year’s scholarship for one child. To the present, Canon has been able to provide educational support for a total of 193 such children.
