On June 17, 2012, Ota Ward, Tokyo, carried out its Tamagawa Riverside Beautification Activity, in which 154 Canon employees and their family members participated.

The Canon participants divided into two groups, with one working on the beautification effort by proceeding from the Canon Head Office toward the Marukobashi Bridge and the other toward the Tamagawa Ohashi Bridge.

This year, team members and staff of Canon Eagles, the company rugby team, also took part in this activity. Canon’s other participants took advantage of this opportunity to interact directly with the athletes they usually cheer on from afar, and many could be seen talking to Eagles members as they engaged in the cleanup effort together.

An animated film on the environment was shown following the beautification activity, to teach children about the importance of the environment.
