A total of 194 Canon employees and their families took part in the campaign to clean up the riverbank of the Tama River sponsored by Tokyo's Ota Ward on June 14, 2009.

The aim of this annual event is to increase awareness and promote understanding of environmental preservation through clean-up activities. This year marked the fourteenth time Canon participated.

The participants divided into two groups for two lengths of the river - one of about 2km from Tamagawa Ohashi Bridge to Gas Bridge and the other for children by the Canon site who worked hard to collect litter.
