Mitsuro Ohba, an adventurer known for his solo treks on foot crossing the Arctic Circle and Antarctic, began the challenge of "Global Adventure: The 3rd Leg - The Canadian Arctic" from the end of February 2008.

Ohba also undertook a Global Adventure in 2004. Therefore, on the current expedition, he will provide information on environmental changes since his previous trip to the region and on the state of environmental destruction there, as well as on the indigenous people and their culture. He will be transmitting this information to people around the world constantly through his homepage. Also, using means such as a satellite phone, he will be communicating with elementary school pupils in Japan and Canada, making this an environmental education project that creates opportunities to think about the global environment.

As a part of activities to support the environment and education, Canon is assisting this project by donating equipment (digital cameras, printers, video equipment, etc.) to record local images.
