Mt. Takao

A ranger explains plants in Mt. Takao
Canon conducted a nature conservation program at Mt. Takao on October 29, 2006. This program provided Canon employees and their families with an opportunity to have a rare experience while doing clean-up work, that is, to hike on Mt. Takao with Tokyo Rangers, listen to them talk about their activities and nature, and actually experience some of the activities to learn about nature conservation. As it rained the day before, it was feared the event might be canceled. However, it turned out to be a fine autumn day, and the weather was ideal for going up Mt. Takao.
At ten in the morning, the participants started climbing toward the summit. On the way, the rangers talked about the difficulties of nature conservation, and the participants spent about one and a half hours walking along the 3.1-km Inariyama route. The rangers explained in detail how deer ate grass and leaves, baring the roots of trees, and the thick boughs broken by typhoon winds.
It was really good to have lunch at the summit of Mt. Takao after such a perspiring yet refreshing climb. Some participants remarked: "Our kids were studying about Tokyo Rangers on the Internet immediately after we were back home." "I got aware of the importance and greatness of nature." All the experiences made a good opportunity for employees and their families to learn about nature conservation.
