An environmental quiz for children held in Malaysia

Students work on the written test
On September 4, 2007, Canon Opto Malaysia co-hosted an environmental quiz contest with the Education Division and the Environment Division of the State of Selangor (where the company is located) to help boost awareness of the importance of environmental conservation among the younger generation on whose shoulders rests the future of Malaysia.
A total of 360 students from 72 schools in the State of Selangor participated in the contest. The participants were divided into two categories: those from elementary schools and those from junior high schools. Within each group, the participants competed to demonstrate their knowledge of important environmental issues. The tension and enthusiasm of the students bravely challenging the unexpectedly difficult questions captivated the audience and filled the hall with excitement. The four schools with the best scores on the written test made it to the finals and competed for the championship.
Canon Opto Malaysia, in collaboration with other organizations in the State of Selangor, participated in the contest from the planning stage, and about 30 of its staff provided operational support on the day of the contest.
