In continuation of efforts kicked off last year, Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd. again hosted forest restoration activities as part of the company's "For a Green Vietnam" social-contribution project. The project's reforestation efforts aim to decrease CO2, reduce the impact of typhoon and flooding to the environment, and contribute to the stability of local residents' everyday lives.

Participants who took part in the reforestation efforts, which took place in Thanh Hoa Province on March 20, included representatives from the local Agriculture and Rural Area Development Bureau and government officials, including representatives from the Provincial People's Committee. Also in attendance were 100 local high school students and 100 volunteers from Canon Vietnam.

In addition, on March 26, Canon Vietnam President Sachio Kageyama and other employees joined approximately 500 local high school students and faculty to plant a 20-hectere area of forest in Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province.

Speaking to students at the event, Mr. Kageyama said, "According to a report from Vietnam's Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Vietnam is just one of many countries experiencing the serious effects of climate change. It is important to raise awareness in environmental conservation in order to reduce climate change through such activities as reforestation efforts." Mr. Kageyama emphasized the importance of such efforts, saying, "These types of activities help to protect our green earth."

A representative from the Bac Giang Province Agriculture and Rural Area Development Bureau next expressed his thanks to Canon Vietnam for the company's valuable partnership and contributions. He said that, going forward, the local government would support the completion of this project to help protect the environment, and asked Canon Vietnam for continued support in helping to create a more stable life for local citizens and a country full of greenery.
