Tokyo Metropolitan Government gives the “Tokyo Environment Award” to organizations and individuals for their contributions to improving the environment. There are two kinds of environmental award: the Award of the Governor of Tokyo and the Award of the Director of the Department of Environment, Tokyo Metropolitan Government. Canon received the Award of the Director of the Department of Environment for its environmental conservation activities; for example, the Government has launched a project to protect the natural environment (appointing Tokyo Rangers), and Canon Inc. lent Tokyo Rangers digital equipment (digital single-lens reflex cameras, compact digital cameras, digital video cameras, binoculars, etc.) free of charge.
