“Canon Junior Photographers 2006” A photography project to nurture children’s sensibilities and promote their awareness of the environment

Canon Inc. holds “Canon Junior Photographers 2006,” (*1) a photography project designed to increase children’s awareness of the natural environment while nurturing their sensibilities.

We have already begun accepting entries for “Canon Junior Photographers 2006,” which celebrates its third anniversary this year. In addition to the participating groups invited by educational and administrative institutions and NPOs, from this year entry to this program is open to elementary school classes from grades three to six. (*2) Digital camera workshops and outdoor photo sessions are conducted atparticipating local communities and schools. Participants’works will be displayed at a photography exhibition to be held in Tokyo in November. Additionally, Canon provides printing support for photo exhibits at events organized by schools and local communities.

For this project, Canon provides not only the necessary equipment, such as digital cameras and ink jet printers, but also a photographer to offer instructions and guidance, as well as supporting staffs. Through these activities, we hope to contribute to the nurturing of children’s sensibilities and increase their awareness of the natural environment.
