Junior Photographers

Exhibition report 2004

Canon Junior Photographers 2004 Exhibition was held

Canon held a photo exhibition for “Canon Junior Photographers,” a children’s photo project, in Tokyo, at Roppongi and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office Building in October and November, respectively.
As 2004’s aim is to increase children’s awareness of environmental preservation, digital photo workshops and photo taking fieldworks were conducted by Canon. The projects took place in ten areas in total, including nine areas in Tokyo, and Shiwa in Iwate Prefecture. At the exhibition, all of the works of about 500 participating children, who titled their own works, were displayed.

There were around 1,800 visitors at the exhibition at Roppongi and 800 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office Building. They commented on the works: “The children’s sensibility is fantastic,” “Children take photos no adult or professional photographer can,” “Their works remind me of my viewpoint in my childhood,” etc.

Working together with local citizens, Canon will continue such activities to help children increase their awareness of environmental issues, and nurture their sensibilities.
