Report on the Grand Prize Selection Open-Committee Meeting of New Cosmos of Photography 2006 (the 29th competition)
Open selection meeting participants
On Friday, December 1, 2006, about three weeks after the New Cosmos of Photography 2006 exhibition opened in Tokyo, the Grand Prize Selection Open-Committee Meeting, which is an open-to-public meeting to select a Grand Prize winner, was held at a hall on the first floor of the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography.
Six finalists (including one group entrant) of Excellence Work Award winners: Mika Kitamura+Yuki Watanabe, Asako Shimizu, Kozue Takagi, Palla, Yoshinori Henguchi, and Izumi Yamada, were present at the meeting, in addition to the selection panel of five judges: regular judges, Nobuyoshi Araki, Kotaro Iizawa, and Fumio Nanjo, and guest judges, Katsuhiko Hibino and Boris Mikhailov. (Daido Moriyama, one of the regular judges, was absent owing to circumstances. He had presented his judgment to the secretariat ahead of the meeting.)
