Report on the Talk Session of Boris Mikhailov and Nobuyoshi Araki
Boris Mikhailov is a photographer who has received high appraisals worldwide, but in Japan, he deserves to be much better known. Therefore, to get to know his works better, a talk session was held, ahead of the Grand Prize Selection meeting, between Mr. Araki. Boris Mikhailov and Nobuyuki Araki, who are fans of each other.
First, in the session, a video was shown of how Mr. Mikhailov took photos of a city, while walking around Tokyo accompanied by Mr. Araki. Then, he talked about his work, showing slides that described how he tried different forms of expression during his life: he is from the Ukraine and has lived through former Soviet age and the perestroika period up to the present.
