Report on the Talk Session of Bohnchang Koo and Kotaro Iizawa

Bohnchang Koo, who has been drawing attention increasingly in Japan lately, is a photographer at the forefront of the photographic scene in South Korea, and is also nurturing the next generation of artists. With Kotaro Iizawa, his friend, acting as host at the session, he commented on the current state of photography in South Korea as well as his own activities as an artist, while showing slides.

Koo also talked about the future of photography in South Korea. He said, “It has been twenty years since photography was considered to be an art in South Korea. I believe that from now on, we should take photos that are unique to South Korea.” “I’d like to reorganize my works, and pass on what I’ve learned to young people. I will help them exhibit and present their works as well,” said he, talking about what he was going to do.

After the session, a lottery was held, and Koo presented his autographed photo book “White Porcelain” to each of five lottery winners in the audience.
