“Pictures of Recollection”
I think that photos not only show what’s physically there and what’s not, they also give away the emotions of the person who shot the picture. It’s a scary, complex thing. For this submission, I selected from among the snapshots I took and accumulated on a daily basis. Snapshots reflect my reaction when I’ve come across something, and give me the opportunity to reflect upon myself. While I develop the prints, I relive the emotions I felt while clicking the shutter, or in some cases, being unable to click the shutter when suddenly confronted with something. With this process, I feel as if I’m beginning to understand my view of things. To receive this award and be recognized for how that communicates to other people is a joy for me. At the same time, it will serve as encouragement.

Two thick albums are crammed wither collections. With organization that could only be described as an accumulation of fragments, the betrayal of the story that someone would anticipate as they go through it is an interesting aspect. Not only that, there collection isn’t complete, and it comes with pain as if slowly crumbling apart. Some of the images are reminiscent of Daido Moriyama, but it’s a strong piece of work where I can sense progress in the creation of her own world. I feel I’d like to follow the process of the fragments taking shape a little longer.
