Like the astonishing presence of light more than anything in Turner and Nieve’s works, rather than concentrating my awareness on the subject’s meaning and content, I thought simply about creating a visual of the factors that form an image. The subject in a relative situation, together with the appearance of light, which transforms by the minute, I recorded that strength on film through a slit in installments of seconds. The regular relative circuit is disrupted there, and at the same time, a new link becomes generated. Before thinking about what I shot and how I shot it, I hope that you will take in the recorded light within the flow of time.

Selecting judge: Kotaro Iizawa

A highly polished work for the first time in a while. The construction of the images, the method of installation, it’s all calculated at a sophisticated level. Using a low-speed slit camera, it’s a low-key job of recording the relativity of the atmosphere, but his resolve to confirm the basics of looking at things is clear and refreshing. Not only abstract images, I hope he will visualize the many different expressions in the world.

Selecting judge: Jean-Claude Lemagny

A work where the creator’s maturity can be sensed. Although maintaining a firm composition, a fluidness like drifting space is well expressed.

Selecting judge: Fumio Nanjo

His intentions are clear. The frame is a little heavy for the work. A slightly lighter feel might have been better. I would like to have this in my living room. I wanted also to give it the Award of Excellence.
