I wanted to make a protest to the massive city of Tokyo, and ask, “Aren’t you losing something important? ” The buzz of nature, the earth, a sparkling white smile, sunset, relaxing scenery, everything there felt very nostalgic. These photos are the landscape seen from the bridge between our daily lives and the people who live in small farming villages. It’s myself, unable to completely cross to the other side, and the scenery that filled the gaps in my heart. I hope to journey more, with my camera in hand. And, also a journey into the heart.

Selecting judge: Fumio Nanjo

Although there are past examples of a gloomy, toned-down Asia, this is head-on, with a huge volume taken in the same line of vision. As a whole, it gives the impression of an epic. The sensitivity of the same tone, same method, same expression, same place, same people seen in the work brings huge meaning. Also, the presentation is simple and doesn’t contradict the work. In the end, the theme isn’t the people, things, or scenery that served as subjects of the photos. It’s actually the light and shade that he created himself. This is what makes a photo a piece of art.
