“The New World of the Far East”
I looked at a map of the world. There is Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo, Japan. And, at the eastern tip of Chiba I see a rugged cape named “Dog-Bark.” Away from the cape, I go eastward, straight across the Japanese Current (Kuroshio) and there’s the Pacific Ocean! Pacific Ocean! There is no trace of an island in sight and the Pacific Ocean goes on and on forever. There is nothing. It is the east end of the world. The terminal in Asia -it really is the “Far East.” Nothing else exists farther.
I’m afraid that I have done something that will be a nuisance.
Everything I see reflects my macho “Far East” spirit. “It is the end of the world. Don’t make a fool of me!” A gold carp in a pet shop threatens me. The Far East pigeon shows its spirit. Clouds disappear the risk of pride. Everyone I meet tonight is beautiful and requires special attention. It’s a tough situation, quite dangerous. It’s too cool. I hear a gong. Now what I am going to do is to take pictures and run away. This is certainly a terminal, but since it is the eastern end, I am hopeful that many different things will happen. The sun is setting in the east. I’ve never seen such a phenomenon.

Her characteristic strength is her right decision to select and develop images, which her antenna catches from the widely scattered chaotic daily life on an island nation in Asia. Consequently, the shady atmosphere of a show-tent in downtown Asakusa fills the whole picture. This time she has submitted both an album and a collection of single photos, and I found the album far more interesting. She is outstanding at compiling her pictures into an album, for example, in arranging both color and monochrome pictures, and creating the flow of images and breaks in between. Her work reminded me of Shuji Yamada's masterpiece in 1970s, “Nihon-mura (Japan Village).” I suppose that Japan will remain a huge village at the end of 1990s.
