“Sleeping Room”
For me, a camera is a device to beautifully chip off the surfaces of things. All the subjects-people, plants, skyscrapers, etc… are impartially photographed by a camera. In the photographed world,
everything looks equivalent and an inorganic artificial shell.
The world we live in might be made of very thin membranes. In this "Sleeping…Room," bodies are made into shells. In the way that our forms were once cut out,…clothing for the body shape, a chair for the sitting shape, and a bed for the sleeping shape, …the forms are now made into shells to go back to bodies. In the white room, clothes-looking things, on which epidermal tissues are printed, stand in line, and the body-shell sleeps peacefully. The body in "Sleeping…Room" might remain motionless, speechless, with the eyes closed.

Whenever I recommend an installation style of work in a photography competition, I feel a little embarrassed, because I question its meaning as a work of photography. Nevertheless, I am positive about appreciating this work. Although a human body is a vividly grotesque and heavy subject, presenting it in a transparent, light image in the air reflects the sense of the times. Architecture, fashion, and computers are also getting lighter and more transparent. This an installation exhibit, which has already been shown in Osaka, consists of a miniature and an acrylic case. In times flooded with images, almost everything has its image projected.
