As my father was getting weaker because of cancer, I began to realize that my mother was important to me. She has a stable personality, being always sweet, strong, and above all calm as a wife as well as a mother. I wanted to record how she was in photographs. Probably taking pictures was my way to face that hardship. More than a year after my father’s death, nothing seems to have changed between my mother and me. I feel that we are moving ahead slowly. Now I feel comfortable about taking pictures of my mother, compared to a lot of anxieties I felt before. It is still my urge to photograph my mother as she is.

Quiet hours filling the air of a hospital room and the photographer’s reserved will pierce through the pictures, and they resonate strongly in my heart. Especially a picture of railway tracks, which is taken as an image suggesting the end of the day is moving. Most of all, what is wonderful is that her father’s wish to live, that never appears in the images, is photographed through her eyes.
