This image is the result of a single photograph overlaid several times. Systematically overlaying and shifting the image eventually achieves an instance in which the image appears to be a single composite of all its permutations. What is the significance of this miraculous single composite image? The source photograph depicting a stable world falls into disorder simply by shifting the image just a little. Here there are no physical laws, only space expanding without order and meaning. Yet, by further systematically shifting the image, rarely a meaningful space emerges in which we can barely sense order. That point of discovery is what I mean by “found”. Normally we tend to overlook these discoveries yet realizing our close connection to them is one way for us to become aware of them. And by taking note of these discoveries we deepen our sense of our selves.

A single large-scale piece very well executed. It is a conceptual work that can be viewed from either above or below and skillfully realized within a level plane. It expresses a quality more universal than Japanese and succeeds in imparting an impact not evident in any of the other entries.
