Aisatsu,” a photo exhibition of Katsumi Omori, is open at the Lotus Root Gallery in Yotsuya, Tokyo

Katsumi Omori, an Excellence Award winner 1993 (the 9th competition) is holding a solo exhibition titled “Aisatsu” as part of a project exhibition during “The Month of Photography, Tokyo 2007,” held at Lotus Root Gallery in Yotsuya, Tokyo.

The artist’s comments on the exhibition:
“This is my first solo exhibition in Tokyo for a long time. The main works displayed were chosen from among photos in “Sanayora,” my photo book published by Aiikusha last year. “Aisatsu” is an interesting Japanese word. Originally, it was a combination of “ai,” which means pushing one’s way through a crowd and “satsu” that means urging someone to do something or blaming someone. Thus, it is a word with an intense meaning. This time, what I’m showing is “Aisatsu.” It might also strike visitors as being intense. I’m looking forward to seeing you there.”

A slide show of “cherry blossoms,” a new project currently under production, will be held at 18:00 on Saturday, June 16. The original positives are projected on a wall. Please join us for some unseasonable cherry-blossom viewing. If you’d like to join us for the fun, please email us at renkon@w2.dion.ne.jp for a reservation.
