Naoki Honjo holds a photo exhibition titled “diorama”
Naoki Honjo (2001 (the 23rd competition Honorable Mention winner) and 2006 (32nd) Kimura Ihei Commemorative Photography Award winner, is holding a photo exhibition titled “diorama” at Tokyo Polytechnic University, Nakano Campus.
He used a 4x5 inch large-format camera with a tilt-shift function to photograph cities, and the people in them, from high locations. Honjo’s extremely popular work “small planet” shows them as if they were miniature models.
In addition to “small planet,” this exhibition will also feature his “Light House” series of residential areas photographed late at night to look like backdrops and stage sets. There will be a talk at the gallery on June 30, and a lecture on the photographs for high school students on July 16. Please take this opportunity to come and take a look.
