Tomoko Sawada holds her solo exhibition at MEM in Osaka
Tomoko Sawada is holding her solo exhibition “BRIDE” at MEM in Osaka. She won a special prize at New Cosmos of Photography 2000 for her work “ID400,” which consists of 400 automatic ID photos in which she masquerades as different persons. In 2004, she received the Kimura Ihei Photography Award for her distinguished photographic activities. She has continued producing unique self-portraits, such as “MASQUERADE” in which she used photos introducing hostesses, and “School Days” in which she masqueraded as each student in a girls’ high school class. In recent years, she has expanded her sphere of activities abroad as one of the Japanese artists attracting attention today. We hope you will take this opportunity to enjoy Sawada’s latest series “BRIDE” in which she masquerades as many Japanese brides.
