Announcement of the schedule for entry applications and the judges of New Cosmos of Photography 2012 (the 35th competition).
Today, Canon Inc. announced that entry applications for the New Cosmos of Photography 2012 (the 35th competition) photo competition will be accepted from April 11, 2012 using its Web Entry Application system. Detailed information on procedures will be announced on this Website on Wednesday, April 11.
The competition will be judged by three photographers with New Cosmos of Photography award experience (Katsumi Omori, HIROMIX, and Masafumi Sanai) and two art critics (Noi Sawaragi and Minoru Shimizu). Each of the five contest judges will select one entry to receive an Excellence award, and four entries for Honorable Mention, and these works will be given the right to be exhibited at the New Cosmos of Photography Tokyo Exhibition 2012 to be held this autumn at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography. This year's Grand Prize winner will be selected at the Grand Prize selection open committee meeting, which will be open to the public, and will be held during the exhibition.
The New Cosmos of Photography has no application restrictions regarding sizes of works, format, number of pieces, age, or nationality. Experimental works are also encouraged. So, while freely accessing your sense and individuality, you should attempt to maximize the potential of your photographic expression. We look forward to applications for works that predict the future of photography.
