Charity walk “Walk the World” sponsored by The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) was held in the Minatomirai district in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, on May 21, 2006. Canon employees and their families, about thirty in all, took part in the event.
This charity walk is an event designed on a global scale as part of the social support services to increase the awareness of the campaign to eradicate the starvation of children in the world. A part of the entry fee (1,500 yen) is used for “the program of school meals” conducted by WFP in the developing countries.
The participants enjoyed open-air walking along the noted places in Yokohama, such as Red Brick Park, Yamashita Park, Minatono mieru oka Koen (Park Overlooking the Port), and Foreign Cemetery.
