Canon Inc., Oita Canon Inc., and Oita Canon Materials Inc. held the 7th "Canon's Enjoy J. League Program" at Kyushu Oil Dome (Big Eye) in Oita City, Oita Prefecture as part of their Social Contribution Activities, on November 11, 2006.
This program aims to help disabled children who have usually few opportunities to watch sports experience the pleasure of watching games live. This time, thanks to the cooperation of Oita Trinita, we could implement the program outside the Kanto district for the first time. Disabled children living in Oita Prefecture were invited to a J. League official game (Oita Trinita vs. Nagoya Grampus Eight).
After listening to a brief talk on soccer given by a staff of Oita Trinita, children went onto the pitch, while the stadium livened up with excited supporters, and observed closely the players practice prior to the game. When a group photo of children was taken, players Edmilson and Turio joined them. It was really a pleasant surprise to them. Then, watching a hotly contested game, they all cheered in great excitement.
After the game was finished, players of Oita Trinita, Shotaro Matsuhashi, Shusaku Nishikawa, Takashi Umeda and Teppei Nishiyama came to see children and they enjoyed conversations. Each player answered children's questions with a smile, and put their autographs on towels and T-shirts that children had brought with them. The meeting was really memorable.
On the day, voluntary employees from Oita Canon and Oita Canon Materials communicated with children while showing them around the venue, distributing souvenirs, and assisting them take pictures.
