Kashima Soccer Stadium

Getting a sense of what the beautifully maintained pitch feels like
On May 26, as part of its Social Contribution Activities, Canon held its "Canon Enjoy J. League Program" at Kashima Soccer Stadium in Kashima City, Ibaraki Prefecture, commemorating the first time the event had been held in Ibaraki Prefecture. With the cooperation of the Kashima Antlers, children with disabilities residing within the prefecture were invited to tour Kashima Soccer Museum and the pitch, meet players, see a match.
The tour of the pitch enabled children to feel the beautifully maintained turf and gave them a sense of how large the pitch really is. Kashima Antlers forward Atsushi Yanagisawa and goalkeeper Shinichi Shuto came to meet the children and deftly handled questions on the secret of getting good at soccer juggling, the most important element of soccer, the players they admire and the like. They also surprised them with gifts: Yanagisawa gave a pair of the cleats he uses, and Shuto gave a pair of his gloves as well. In the match they observed, they voiced enthusiastic support for the Kashima Antlers.
As the program proceeded, employees working at the Toride and Ami offices volunteered to serve as guides to the venue, distribute souvenirs, and assist with photo-taking and the like, engaging with the children all the while.
The children who participated expressed such feelings as, "I got to experience so much in just one day that I like soccer even more now," and "The volunteers were so nice, it really made me happy!"
