On June 19, 2010 Canon held the 13th "Canon Enjoy J. League Program Soccer Workshop" for disabled children living in Kanagawa prefecture as part of Canon's community contribution program.

This program, designed to acquaint kids with the fun of sports through soccer, is a cooperative effort between the J. League and official league sponsor Canon that has been going on since 2003. This time, the 13th J. League event, Canon chose to continue last year's soccer workshop.

Seventeen children were invited to the MM21 Training Center (Marinos Town) to learn the basics and techniques of soccer from ten coaches including Mikio Miyashita, the team's public outreach coach. The event concluded with a mini-game in which every goal was met with excitement and cheering.

Since Marinos players such as Yuji Nakazawa and Shunsuke Nakamura were absent from the stadium due to their involvement in the world cup, they specially opened up their club house cafeteria for the kids to enjoy lunch. In addition, the children were overjoyed to receive presents including a plush toy version of the South Africa World Cup mascot "Zakumi", a lucky charm for a sure-win, and each of the player's autographs.

In accordance with the program's progress, five volunteer employees who applied through Canon's intranet manned the reception desk, showed participants around, and helped support the soccer workshop while also improving the level of exchange with the children and their accompanying adults.
