On October 23, 2011, Canon held the 14th "Canon Enjoy J. League Program Soccer Workshop" for disabled children living in Kanagawa Prefecture, as part of Canon's community contribution program.

This program, designed to acquaint children with the joy of sports through soccer, is a cooperative effort between the J. League soccer organization and its official league sponsor, Canon, that has been ongoing since 2003. In 2009, the program inaugurated its "Soccer Workshop," to have children actually experience the delight of playing soccer, and this workshop has been conducted at the Yokohama F. Marinos club twice to date. The recent 3rd holding of the workshop took place for the first time at the Frontown Saginuma club, which is run by Kawasaki Frontale.

This time 12 children, in grades from third year elementary to third year middle school, were invited. They had varying degrees of soccer experience, from children who touched a soccer ball for the first time, to children already belonging to a soccer team. Kawasaki Frontale Coach Tatsuya Kawagoe and three other coaches welcomed the participants with a special curriculum.

After warming up exercises such as stretching, the participants practiced their kicks. First learning how to pass accurately and control the ball, they then played "kick bowling," with cones in place of bowling pins. Coach Hideki Sahara, who has a wealth of experience as a J. league player, treated the children to a demonstration with his powerful kicks. Thereafter, the group divided into four teams and played against each other.

Ample time was set aside at the end for actual matches. To great cheering by the accompanying adults, the children racked up a large number of goals.

As necessary as the program progressed, employee volunteers manned the reception desk, guided participants around, took photos and helped support the soccer workshop, while also enriching their interactions with the children by participating in the matches and working up a sweat along with them.
