Supporting Diverse Functions for HD Image Processing

HD Codec Engine

As video camcorders employ a variety of recording methods, Canon develops codec engines to keep pace with the arrival of video camcorders that use various formats. In 2007, Canon developed a new HD codec engine in line with the commercialization of the HR10, which uses the new AVC (Advanced Video Coding) HD format.

Since 1997, the development of codec engines has made great progress in terms of their performance and density, in turn contributing to the development of more functional, more compact products with lower power consumption as well as lower prices.
