The Minds Behind the Magic / S900 Inkjet Printers

It has been quite some time since sales of digital cameras surpassed those of conventional silver-halide cameras. Recent offerings in the marketplace are taking pixels to new heights, from the three to the four-megapixel level. In addition to raising resolution with greater numbers of pixels, the latest digital cameras also improve image quality with better color and gradation expressions. With the release of photo-quality printers, digital camera users are also able to printout their own photos, even on large-sized paper, a feat impossible with silver-halide cameras. In October 2001, Canon launched its S900 in Japan, a new photo-quality Inket printer that is opening up new territory in the age of digital photography with high output speed and brilliant color reproduction. Today, we meet the engineers who made this remarkable series of printers possible.
